From Regulated Industries to AI Governance
Japmandeep Ahluwalia
AI Governance Practitioner
I spent 20 years inside regulated industries including HSBC, British Gas, and E.ON Energy. I watched how governance works when it succeeds, and I also saw what happens when it fails.
That experience taught me that AI governance faces the same old challenge. Policies look good on paper but break in production. So I built the Accountability Triggers framework to make oversight programmable, auditable, and scalable.
I hold the Oxford Saïd AI Ethics, Regulation and Compliance certificate with a score of 86%. I am also a BSI ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer with a score of 90%. These credentials underpin my practical approach to operationalising human oversight for high risk AI systems.
I was selected for the Global Trust Challenge Prototyping Phase 2026 from 110+ international submissions. My focus is on making the EU AI Act's Article 14 (human oversight) a reality, not just a checkbox.

This article bridges the gap between high-level AI principles and operational reality. It introduces the Accountability Triggers framework as a practical mechanism to enforce human oversight at runtime, not as a bureaucratic afterthought, but as an integral part of AI system design.
